News Feed Events

New Donor

Occurs when:
A person gives their first gift.

Recommended action:
Send a note thanking them for their gift. That lets know you noticed their gift, and they are more likely to give in the future.

Late Donor

Occurs when:
A recurring donor is 10 days behind in giving their next expected gift. For example, if someone gives $50 on the first of each month, then they become a late donor if they haven't given by the 11th day of the month.

Recommended action:
Most of the time these people don't realize they didn't give, either because their credit card number changed or maybe the husband took over the finances from the wife and he forgot to send in the check.

We know it's scary, but if you contact them and say you noticed their last gift didn't come in, they will most likely start giving again. (Seriously, over 50% of the people you contact will start giving again. Try it yourself and see). And if they can't give because they lost a job or have extra expenses, then you know how you can be praying for them.

Returning Late Donor

Occurs when:
A recurring donor was late in giving their last gift but has now given again.

Recommended action:
Send a note letting them know you noticed they started giving again and thank them for their continued support.

Stopped Giving Donor

Occurs when:
A recurring donor is 90 days behind in giving their next expected gift. This is very similar to the Late Donor event, but now it's been 3 months since their last gift.

Recommended action:
Just like with the Late Donors, we recommend you contact these people if you haven't already. They're very likely to start giving again if they realize you noticed.

Returning Stopped Giving Donor

Occurs when:
A regular donor had stopped giving but has now given again. (see the Stopped Giving Donor event above for reference)

Recommended action:
Send a note letting them know you noticed they started giving again and thank them for their continued support.

New Monthly Donor

Occurs when:
A donor starts giving each month.

Recommended action:
If you haven't already thanked them, then send a note to thank them.

New Pledge

Occurs when:
A pledge is created for the donor.

Recommended action:
If you haven't already thanked them, then send a note to thank them.

Increased Pledge Amount

Occurs when:
A pledge amount is increased.

Recommended action:
If you haven't already thanked them, then send a note to thank them.

Decreased Pledge Amount

Occurs when:
A pledge amount is decreased.

Recommended action:
Most of the time you probably won't do anything as a result of a decreased pledge amount.

Extra Gift

Occurs when:
A donor is current with giving towards their pledge, and they went ahead and gave an additional gift.

Recommended action:
Send a note letting them know you noticed their extra gift and are thankful for it.

Catch-up Gift

Occurs when:
A donor is behind behind in giving towards their pledge, and now they have given a larger gift to help make up the difference.

Recommended action:
Send a note letting them know you noticed their catch-up gift and are thankful for it.

Gave Above Regular Amount

Occurs when:
A recurring donor gives more than they typically do.

Recommended action:
Send a note letting them know you noticed they gave more than they typically do and are thankful for it.

Gave Below Regular Amount

Occurs when:
A recurring donor gives less than they typically do.

Recommended action:
It might not be anything to be too concerned about, but if they continue to give less, then you will either want to contact them or you should lower their pledge amount in DonorElf since they aren't giving as much as they used to.

Expiring Pledge

Occurs when:
A pledge is about to end (30 days before the pledge end date)

Recommended action:
It's a great opportunity to thank them for their commitment and generosity in supporting you financially. It's also recommended to ask them to consider extending their pledge to continue to support you. They have already supported you and believe in what you are doing, so it's very likely that they'll continue to give if you ask.

Address Changed

Occurs when:
A donor's address is changed in the accounting system.

Recommended action:
Most of the time you probably won't do anything as a result of an address change. It's more to just keep you in the loop.
